Everything that the home computer user needs to handle partitioning and management of their hard drives.
This program provides all of the disk partitioning functionality that a home user is ever likely to need. The functions are divided into three main groups - disk functions, partition functions and wizards. For beginners the wizards will take you step by step through the process of performing those tasks you are most likely to need to use.
Disk functions include copy, wipe, surface test, rebuild MBR, and delete all partitions. Partition functions include resize, move, merge, split, copy, create, delete, format, change label, wipe, change drive letter, hide, set active and check partition. In short the program provides all of the disk and partition functions you are likely to need to reorganise your data when adding or replacing hard drives in your computer.
As with all programs of this type the actions are not performed immediately. Instead you construct a list of those functions you want in the order you want them to run and then press the Apply button to run them. If you realise you have made a mistake before applying the changes you can use the Discard button to start over. The Safely Partition instructions recommend setting up one change at a time and applying that before starting on the next. It also recommends (and so do I) that you run checks of the partitions before attempting to change them.
The things that this free program can't do - which I have listed as cons - are not normally ones that a typical home user would require but if you do then most of them are available in the Pro version of this program and the rest are available in the server version.
