Question: I accidentally removed the check mark against the "Always Ask before downloading this type of file" and now I can't download files without opening them straight away. How can I bring back the option to just download files without opening them?
Answer: After unchecking the always ask option at the bottom of the dialog the dialog no longer appears to allow you to check it again there. Instead you need to go into My Computer and select Options from the View menu. Select the File Types tab and scroll down and select the file type that is causing you the problem then select Edit. The following dialog box will appear.
The Confirm Open After Download box should appear unchecked as you have disabled this option by unchecking the box at the bottom of the download dialog. To restore the download dialog simply check this box and select OK.
The next time you try to download a file of this type the download dialog asking if you want to open or save the file should be back giving you the option to save the file without opening it straight away.
