Reinstalling an Upgrade
Question: I want to format my hard drive but I have come across a problem. I know how to format but I bought the computer with Windows 98 installed and have since upgraded to Windows ME. Is there any way to get arould reinstalling Windows 98 and just reinstall Windows ME?

Answer: There is no need to reinstall an earlier operating system just to enable you to reinstall a later one from an upgrade CD. If your operating system is an upgrade version then it will look for a copy of the earlier operating system during the install and when it can't find it on the hard drive it will ask you where it is. At this point you just insert the CD for the earlier operating system into the drive and tell the install to look for it there.
