Pros
- Explains the connection between standards and findability
- Covers the relative importance of the various techniques
- Presents an interesting way to utilise longdesc that I haven't seen presented elsewhere.
- covers both in page and server side processes
- covers both static and dynamic sites including popular blog software
Cons
- Gets HTML and XHTML confused as if the author doesn't really understand the difference
- Over-reliance on w3schools examples. Sure they are findable because they got a good domain name but their content is now somewhat dated.
- Gets Google AdWords and AdSense programs mixed up.

Review
Unlike many of the books on search engine optimisation (SEO), this book is not written for the marketing people it is written for the people who develop the web site. The processes presented in this book can be implemented as a web site is developed to make the final site much easier to find. The suggestions cover all aspects of this including search engine optimisation techniques as well as encouraging past visitors to come back by providing them with a reason to do so.
I have not come across any other book that provides the level of information that this book does. Those items I have listed as cons are not all that relevant as none of them relates all that directly to the primary subject matter of the book.
The associated web site also contains a further five bonus chapters of information which never made it into the final book.
