Compressed Files and Folders
Question: Why do all the updates for windows xp appear in folders in the windows Directory with blue text, and all the files in the folders are blue text?

Answer: Windows XP uses the NTFS file system which supports file compression. Files and folders which are compressed display a different colour text from those which are not. Usually blue and black respectively.
To compress or decompress individual files or folders go to the context menu (right click or use the key at the bottom right of the keyboard to the left of the ctrl key)and go into 'Properties'. Next select the 'Advanced' button and you will find the option that determines whether or not compression should be applied at the bottom.
