Windows XP Home and Pro
Question: Please tell me the difference between Windows XP home vs. Windows xp Professional.
Daniel Jones
Answer: XP Home has certain default settings (eg. giving everyone superuser access to the whole computer) that can be individually set in Pro. Windows XP Professional offers a number of features that home doesn't have. These include:
- XP Pro supports 2 processors, Home only supports one.
- XP Pro also has Austomated System Recovery, Dynamic Disk Support, integrated FAX function, IIS web server, encrypted file system, file level access control, domain wizard, group policy, intellimirror, roaming file access, multi-language support, SNMP, simple TCP/IP, client for Netware, network, monitor,, and many other networking options not included in Home.
- Guest access is off by default in Pro but on by default in Home.
Basically Home is intended for stand alone use while Pro has all of the additional features needed for networking.
