Upgrading to XP
Question: I want to upgrade to Windows XP from Windows 98 am I going to lose everything I have saved in this process?

Answer: There are two ways to do the upgrade.
- One is to install XP over 98. That way will keep your old operating system as well as installing the new one and should transfer all of the applications and all the garbage to XP.
- The other is to do a clean install of XP and then reinstall the applications you need. This approach takes longer but gets rid of all the garbage that accumulates in Windows operating systems that slows them down. Most windows systems really need a clean install of the operating system every year or two to clean them up anyway.
In either case the safest thing to do is to back up all your data first so that you don't lose it.
