Question: I am running Windows NT 4.0 server. I have a batch file that I want to run at startup but w/o an interactive session - the bat file is actually calls a program that should stay running as long as the user is logged in. I have tried using a bat file in the startup and then calling my bat with a start command but the I always end up with a cmd window.
I would use at command - but it seems a time must be specified - not an event such as startup.
This particular bat file will not run as a Service.
So is there a way to have a batch file run "in background" or a way to use at command for an event?
Answer: To do this you create a shortcut to run the bat file in the startup folder, then on that shortcut select properties from the context (right click) menu and go to the shortcut page and select start minimized.
