- Has many useful examples including lots of pictures.
- Step by step approach makes it easy for anyone to see how to properly design a site.
- Lots of links to real web sites that demonstrate the different design principles.
- Covers the importance of starting your design on paper.
Cons
- The resolution of the pictures in the chapter on texture have insufficient contrast to see the actual textures properly. Unless you use a magnifying glass they look the same as the pictures from before the textures are applied

Review
This book received many rave reviews when it was first released and the first print run was sold out within days. I am not quite sure why that happened as I do not believe that this book is quite that good.
While this book is not an absolutely prefect guide to web design for beginners it will be extremely difficult for anyone to write a more perfect guide than this one. The basic aspects to design are all covered in great detail with plenty of examples to illustrate the design process.
Surprisingly since the book can display images at a higher resolution than the web (or perhaps because of it) the images illustrating the use of texture in design do not look significantly different from the untextured versions.
