Question: Hello, I was wondering if you could provide your experience and knowledge and answer this:
I have a MSI mainboard with a AMD athlon 1600+ 1.6 GHZ I replaced boards at a local PC shop and now my new MSI board works fine, however, the chip now says AMD Athlon 1.24 GHZ. Did this PC shop switch my processor and give me a slower one. Any response would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
Answer: Each motherboard has a number of different processor speed settings available in the BIOS.
They may just have left the speed set to its default (slowest) setting. To correct this you go into the BIOS when the computer first boots, find the processor speed setting and change it to the correct value.
